EARTHQUAKE!!!

We just had an earthquake (4:42 PM our time)! It was a 6.2 quake located off the coast of our island. Pretty amazing. We were all home when it struck. The girls were watching TV in Kenzie's room, Brian was in our room, and I was in the most undignified spot in the house. Yes, leave it to me to be caught with my pants down...literally. Nice... (I did make it out to the hallway before the shaking stopped, so I saved my dignity a little bit). There was a lot of clinking and clattering, but the only major casualty in our apartment was a ceramic angel sitting on our bookshelf (it was given to me by one of my students..so I am a bit sad). The sensation was a little like turbulence on an airplane. It was a truly bizarre 15 second experience. I wonder if there will be any aftershocks. According to our neighbor there were 5 earthquakes last year, but none were as strong as the one this evening. I included a picture of my Typhoon Prep Kit area. I am filling it with items that are recommended to have on hand during the Typhoon season (June-October/November). The weather here is interesting to say the least.

Little Emily slept with us the night of the earthquake. She was still awake at 10:30 PM and said she was afraid her bed would start shaking. She hasn't slept with us since she was a tiny baby. It was so sweet, I couldn't help but cuddle her. Poor thing!
