It is our dear little Gappy. She was not fond of being photographed today, so I sweetened the deal by promising to also post a picture of her stuffed cat on the blog...thus the first picture. She is funny! I am waiting for Brian to return home. He had to work yesterday (Saturday) for awhile making lesson plans for an upcoming class. He is discovering the reality of "teacher hours" too...8-3 and summers off, my butt! Today he is running a half marathon at Camp Kinser. He decided this would be "fun" a few weeks ago. He tried to talk me into it, but there were the kids to think about. Also, I am really excited that I can now run a whole mile without stopping. Of course, I have to walk a mile before hand to warm up and then another one afterward to recover. I am not a natural runner. My body type requires alot of "strapping down the hatches", if you know what I mean, just for moderate comfort. So, inspiring me to run 13 miles would require a carnivorious animal to chase me and I would still probably let it eat me about mile 4.

I had to step away for awhile. Brian just made it home. The poor guy...he did it, but he is a bit worse for the wear. I was getting worried because he had been gone so long. He just wants to go to sleep, but I made him sip water and gatorade, nibble on some salty pretzels, and suck on a popcicle. He ran it in 2 hours and 33 minutes. He stayed for the brunch, but lost it in the parking lot and had to rest in his car before driving himself home. He doesn't seem to have a high body temperature, but I am keeping a close eye on him. The weather is still hot and humid and he seems to ignore his body's signals when he overexerts. He did get a really neat T-Shirt though!

Dr.Rene recommends an Irish carbomb to take care of Brian's dehydration=o)!

Well at least he won't care about the dehydration then :).
