Newman sails through surgery

Newman is an amazing cat. For those of you who don't know who he is, Newman is our 14 year old (15 in May) Chartreux who currently lives with my best friend in Seattle. The cat has more than nine lives, the vet swears he is Benjamin Button. He just doesn't seem to age. He is the sweetest cat you will ever meet. He wants nothing more than to snuggle 24/7. MoMo is his person and when he lived with us, he followed her around like a dog. He slept in her bed (yes, IN her bed, under the covers) and was her constant companion. She was heartbroken when we had to leave him in the States due to the housing over here. We were really lucky that Suzanne agreed to keep him so we didn't have to rehome him completely. There is still hope we will be reunited!
Recently he had to go in for some teeth extractions. Chartreux are notorious for having teeth issues and Newman was certainly having some teeth issues. He underwent the surgery and came out of anesthesia as happy as ever with 13 less teeth. Holy Moley!! When he got home, the first thing he wanted to do was eat!! After oral surgery all he wanted to do was eat, can you believe that?!? Suzanne said he licked the can clean and trotted around like nothing out of the ordinary had happened to him. What a silly boy.
Here is the cutest part of Newman's day today. Nick, my cousin and Suzanne's husband, was in charge of transporting him to the vet. He got out his travel crate, rounded up Newman, and took the crate to the car. On the way he thought the crate felt a bit heavy (Newman is not a big cat). Newman was checked in at the vet and Nick left for work. On his way out of the parking lot the vet tech flagged him down. There was a stowaway in the crate with Newman! One of Suzanne's cats, a black cat named Dante, had crawled in the crate while Nick was rounding up Newman. How cute. So Dante got to hang out in the vet's office for the day while his buddy had surgery. He got a field trip out of the deal and Newman got a pal to keep him company.
