This is our MAFT trainer. Mobil Aircraft Firefighting Trainer. During Silver Flag training, we take a day and do aircraft firefighting. The firefighters must wear their chemical protective suits underneath their bunker gear. It provides them with an opportunity to become confident in the wear of their protective equipment while aggressively fighting fire. The trainer has propane burners on the exterior and interior. I provide a safety brief and a quick walk around talking about tactics before starting. They roll up on the aircraft and shoot their turrets from the trucks, then advance an attack line inside and we set each section of the aircraft on fire as they progress from the cockpit to the cargo ramp. When the fires are extinguished, they swap crews and do it again and again.
