Nana/Grandma Breakfast

So in an effort to restart my commitment to this blog, I decided I am going to start doing little posts. For some reason the thought of doing long posts with pictures, etc. gets daunting and I tend to leave the blog off my to do list. So here it goes with a tiny tidbit from our life:

The girls both had a friend over for a sleepover. Kenzie and Emily planned the agenda and meals. It was a halfday of school so they were all here by 12 on Friday. They had spaghetti tacos for lunch. Yes you read that correctly. Apparently this is the latest food craze. It comes from the TV show ICarly. One of the characters couldn't decide if he wanted spaghetti or tacos, so he combined the two. The kids thought it was fantastic. I made them add some fruit and veg as side items and everyone was happy.

The older girls made a kielbasa and green bean dish and fruit salad for everyone for dinner. It was nummy! We all had a great meal and the older girls loved being able to do a "grown up" thing. They even did dishes afterward....sweet.

This morning I got up early and made the Nana/Grandma breakfast. It consists of a recipe from Nana and a recipe from Grandma. It is one of the kid's favorite breakfasts. We have Wake-Up Shakes (Nana's) and homemade pancakes (Grandma's), plus fresh strawberries and a small glass of fresh OJ (a byproduct of the wake up shake ingredients). So yummy.

We ended up doing like 4 load of dishes in the dishwasher, much to Kenzie's dismay (unloading is one of her chores)...but it was great food and worth the effort. I am just thankful that we have a dishwasher even if it is tiny. It is a very American thing...the dishwasher. It is rare to have one off base. Kenzie's friend, Miranda, lives off base. She has to do the dishes by hand! I won't complain about loading the dishwasher!

See a small post becomes bigger as I start typing...this may work.
